Fresh from celebrating her 17th birthday with possible birth parents David Bowie and Tilda Swinton, Lorde will perform at the ARIA Awards.
The Kiwi phenom performed an unprecedented 25-minute set on Letterman earlier this month, but has yet to perform on Australian TV (so she hasn't really made it, then). The ARIAs will mark her debut on our small screens.
It'd be an understatement to say that 2013's been big for Lorde. She's become the first New Zealander to have top the Billboard Hot 100 and the first female to top Billboard's alternative chart since '96, was named Time Magazine's Most Influential Teen of 2013, won five gongs at the NZ Music Awards, and went triple platinum in Australia with 'Royals' ('Pure Heroine' is platinum; 'Team' is sitting on gold).
"Lorde is an extremely talented artist and performer," ARIA CEO Dan Rosen said, "and one of the biggest artists in the world right now, so we are thrilled to be able to welcome her to this year's ARIA Awards as a special guest performer."
Tickets to the ARIA Awards have sold out, but you can still join in the festivities on the David Jones Black Carpet from 3pm on Sunday December 1 at The Star, and watch the awards from 7:30pm on GO!
This year's live performances will be available to stream exclusively on Rdio the next day; go to onrdio.com or download the Rdio app for free.
