Lorde Picks A Winner For triple j Homemade Dynamite Remix Competition

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

triple j’s Unearthed Lorde Remix competition saw over 1,000 entries and Sydney producer Sweet Potato has won it.

The vocal tracks and instrumental parts of Lorde’s track Homemade Dynamite, taken from her ARIA chart-topping album 'Melodrama', were given to triple j’s Unearthed.

Sweet Potato was announced as the subsequent competition’s winner, chosen by Lorde herself, who spoke to the producer about his track, entitled 'Spark-A-Ling'.

“I was really, very inspired and I stopped in my tracks when I heard what you’d done... It’s the kind of remix I’d listen to a bunch of times.”

The track used Lorde’s own voice to create the beat for the remix, something that Lorde cited as a similar approach used on her track 'Million Dollar Bills' from her debut EP 'The Love Club'. The pop songstress also gave a shout out to all the entrants of the competition, inclusive of its other finalists Eilish Gilligan, Vicent Sole, Tone Youth and Aele Kae.

“So many of you guys remixed Homemade Dynamite, it’s so amazing! There were so many cool entries. Each one I really was very impressed by for different reasons.”

Sweet Potato has won a double pass to Lorde’s Sydney show, a triple j prize pack and radio play on both triple j and triple j Unearthed.
