Sunshine Coast's iconic live music venue, Solbar will open its doors to live audiences for the first time since lockdown with the launch of the three-part 'Sunday Arvo' chilled sessions this weekend.

To take place in Solbar's spacious band room, which has been transformed into a lounge bar furnished with couches, tables, and full table-service with drinks and food being delivered to punters, the 'Sunday Arvo' sessions will offer limited tickets and adhere to COVID-19 safe practices.

Rock-funk four-piece The Fins kick-off 'Sunday Arvo', bringing their unapologetic, theatrical and dynamic live show to Solbar 21 June.

The following Sunday (28 June) features another Sunshine Coast act, the freshly emerging electric, soul, rock sounds of Sunflower; the five-piece are the love child of leading frontwoman Kahlia Ferguson (The Fergies) and singer-songwriter Lawson Doyle (Port Royal).

The final instalment of 'Sunday Arvo' (5 July) welcomes folk-roots sweetheart Felipe Baldomir, who will enchant the audience with a laid-back and ultra-intimate acoustic show.

"We're stoked to be bringing back the real Solbar, the one that runs on live music and good vibes," Solbar's Entertainment Manager, Melissa O'Bryan says.
"We can't wait to see our favourite artists and our music-loving regulars over the next few gigs!

"Starting this week we are putting on a run of intimate Sunday shows; a couple beers on a Sunday afternoon soaking up quality live music in our band room."

Live music in the time of coronavirus won't be quite the same as Solbar's Marketing Manager, Katie Mateus explains. "Working within the new COVID rules means it's just not possible to do gigs the way we used to, not just yet anyway.

"So we've decided to improvise; and to be honest, we love how this is all shaping up. Sit-down lounge shows with great views and no lining up at the bar, we think it's going to be a massive hit."

Katie jokes the new format will have one, major difference. "I think couch-dancing will be the hot, new dance trend. The next big thing on TikTok, just wait and see."
