PawPlay is a fundraiser for Little Paws Kitten Rescue, a local volunteer organisation that has saved hundreds of kittens this year alone (and many, many more since they started rescuing and re-homing feline friends in 2004).
Unlike many other organisations of this type, Little Paws have a no-kill policy — this means that every cat in their care, whether they're deaf, blind, or missing a limb, gets the best chance at living a long life in foster homes and with their new furever families.
While that all sounds great, the reality is that it's not cheap. If you've ever owned a cat, you can imagine the sort of bills an organisation like Little Paws racks up for vet bills, medications, food, litter, toys and bedding.
That's why a slew of local musicians — including The Fantastic Mr Fabulous, The Medicine Show, Little Planes Land, The Plastic Fangs, Dan Acfield and the ambitiously named Winners Of The Tour de France — are donating their time and talent for a special show at Brisbane's Beetle Bar (350 Upper Roma St) on Sunday October 7.
A number of raffles will be drawn over the course of the show. Doors open at 3pm and close at 9pm, tickets cost $10, and all funds raised go directly to Little Paws Kitten Rescue.
