Quan has been playing the music game for the past 22-plus years, mainly in the frame of Regurgitator.
Over this time he has also released material in various other guises: Happyland, Blox, along with his great hip hop slanted album, 'Quan The Amateur'. After an extended time away from things engaged with the activity of life he has emerged with a new track to signal the next wave of creative output.
The result is a sweet, sweet badass hip hop tune from Quan - 'Chocolate Milk' - featuring Seja on guest vocals.
Last week I was sitting at Patricia again just watching the young executives bristle as they ran the numbers. I do it because it makes me feel ineffectual. Then I wait for the mild depression to set in before I start texting my mate Seja. She was in the middle of some sudden gastro thing at work and was vomiting violently into one of the toilets.
‘How come we can’t be like the Young Executives,' I thumbed. ‘Brash and carefree but ultimately in control of our lives?’ (Sad face)
Between hurls she managed to predictively type: ‘Hurts my bum chest. Pour Drake on it.'
That short text got me thinking. It’d been way too long between rap songs for me. That night I sat down and clone painted the beat for 'Chocolate Milk' in Photoshop then hastily faxed it to Seja’s office.
The rest as they say is the Journey.
