The promoters of Listen Out have declared there will be no events under the Listen Out moniker in 2025.
In a statement to social media, Fuzzy said the "last few years have been tough" [the events were COVID-cancelled in 2020 and 2021] and they were "hitting pause" on Listen Out as well as foreshadowing what is planned in its place.
"Okay... deep breath. This one's tough.
Listen Out won't be going ahead this year.
We've always tried to build something special – where the lineup reflects the culture and the energy flows both ways between the artists and you... The last few years have been tough. So, we're hitting pause on Listen Out as you know it but we're not going anywhere.
Introducing: 'Listen Out Presents': One-off, carefully curated parties in killer locations around Australia all year long! And yes that means you too Perth, with some of the best artists in the world.
We're still here for the good times... just in a new way. We're not saying anything else... for now. Tomorrow's got you covered.
Reaction on social media was generally positive with one commenter saying, "This is what Stereosonic said before they disappeared for good... Was nice knowing you Listen Out, we had some great times."
Another said, "Honestly. I think this could be the best thing. We will likely get longer sets with more strategic bills catered to fan groups by a agency with their finger on the pulse.
Plus crazy thought. NO CLASHES!!!! Every year because the amount of high end acts needed to sell out a festival constantly creates clashes."
And another, "Great call, better artist selection more loyal fan base on an intermittent level. I rate it.
There was no definitive word on the teased Listen Out Presents events for Adelaide. Although Perth was specifically namechecked in the announcement, no mention was made of the South Australia capital which missed out in 2024 and 2022 although a Listen In event was held in 2023 for its 10th birthday.
Listen Out was announed as the reincarnation of the retired Parklife events in 2013.
