A new initiative from triple j's Unearthed will see 15 grants awarded to emerging Australian artists to assist them as they build their own brand.
The Unearthed Level Up Grants are a response by the nation's youth broadcaster in the wake of the finance carnage caused by COVID-19. The grants, which are part of the ABC's wider Fresh Start Fund, will support independent musicians to build a sustainable career.Artists from a range of different genres, as well as those living in regional areas and Indigenous musicians if successful will be able to access up to $7,000 that can be spent on multiple facets of the artist's career development, such as recording a new song.
Five grants will be awarded (one each) across 'band', 'solo', 'hip hop', 'heavy' and 'producers/ dance/ electronic' categories. A further two grants will be offered to Indigenous artists, with another eight grants extended to artists based in regional areas (one for each state and territory).
Applications are open and close at midnight on 7 June.
