Let The Music Play 2022 Line-up

L-R top to bottom: Jesswar, Northeast Party House, Thundamentals, Wafia
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

A celebration of 'classic Valley shenanigans' that's billed as the 'largest ticketed festival in Fortitude Valley history', Let The Music Play returns in 2022 for another serving of live music, DJs, and queer culture for the ultimate street party.

To take place on 13 August featuring 18 bands across 4 venues (The Fortitude Music Hall, The Zoo and Brightside Outdoors as well as a special street activation zone dubbed Unicorn Alley), Let The Music Play will be headlined by Northeast Party House bringing their unstoppable party energy alongside hip hop OGs Thundamentals and the alt-pop indie charm of Wafia (who recently released her first single in two years, 'In The Honey').

Other additions to the line-up include hard-hitting rapper Jesswar, dance-floor legends Mash'd N Kutcher, and emerging dark pop-soul artist Cloe Terare.

Then there's local festival mainstays and genre blenders Bullhorn, the atmospheric, moody electronic landscapes of COLLAR as well as the very first live show from Jordan Burns and his band.

Let The Music Play has teamed up with the brains behind Brisbane institution Fluffy to present Unicorn Alley – a disco blowout featuring drag artists, DJs and of course, dance floors.

"The Valley has always been the epicentre for queer culture in Brisbane," Fluffy promoter and DJ, Harry K says.

"Harry K's Fluffy has been part of its history for over 21 years and will be taking over Warner Street and transforming it into the ultimate block party full of colour, music, shows, drag queens, DJs and performing arts.

"Unicorn Alley is all about expressing your true athletic self and celebrating together as ONE."

Head of programming at The Fortitude Music Hall and Let The Music Play co-curator Mark Gibbons says it's a chance to celebrate what we have but also remember the venues that we've lost.

"We are proud to be able to announce the return of Let The Music Play. After a critical few years for the live music industry, it is our duty to continue to support the Fortitude Valley, Brisbane live music venues and the creative arts.

"This event honours past and present party-goers that frequent our creative spaces and show collective resolve against whatever the next obstacles thrown at us are – be it fire, flood, plague."

Let The Music Play takes place 13 August (from 3pm) in Fortitude Valley (Brisbane) venues The Fortitude Music Hall, The Zoo, Brightside Outdoors and Warner Street's Unicorn Alley.

Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 10 June.
