Leaked Flo Rida Memo Is Cringeworthy, Hilarious

Flo Rida
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Flo Rida has VERY specific instructions for the songwriters he works with.

Factmag claims to have gotten hold of a genuine memo sent from the Florida rapper's team to prospective songwriters, giving them an idea of what Flo looks for in a track.

If you write a Flo Rida song, you need to make sure you make Flo look "masculine, macho, and iconic", which means you better not write a damn love song (although the phrase 'I Love This Shit' is fine, because it's "nonromantic"). It would also be great if you could rip off song titles that have worked for other artists — for instance, any song called 'Jump' is pretty much guaranteed to be a monster hit.

Here's the memo in full:
Hey everyone!

"I've attached a Zip file (Idea & Instrumental) for a Flo Rida idea that the whole team love the melody.. Just needs new lyrics.. Lyric brief is below..Would be great if you had any songwriters who could nail it!
Overall key with Flo Rida is to be masculine, macho, and iconic. Meaning we stay away from soft topics (like “your beautiful” or anything with love in it, unless something nonromantic like “I Love This Shit”).

We try to use concepts that have been #1s before but not interpolate (example “Jump” has been a #1 for Van Halen, Pointer Sisters, Kriss Kross, House Of Pain, and others). We love catch phrases, edgy/sexual double entendres, commands, and HUGGGEEEE melodies + lots of energy.
