Lagerstein Are All For Rum And Rum For All
 On Their National Tour

Lagerstein
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Brisbane’s favourite pirates are back in town, and they’re set to sail on another Australian tour before charting a course for Europe next month.

If you’ve never seen or heard of Lagerstein before, at first glance they seem like a bunch of... well, pirates. Their music and aliases portray a perfect combination of fun, happy-go-lucky attitude with a little bit of crazy. It’s the perfect recipe for a folk-metal band.

The band will be playing songs from last year's album, 'All For Rum And Rum For All', with lead vocalist Captain Gregaaarrr saying this will be your last chance to see them before the crew set sail for a European tour in March. “We’re heading all around Australia for this tour, we’re starting in Miami and we’re going down to Sydney for Lagerfest,” the Captain says.

The Captain says there is never a dull moment on tour with the crew and although he is a positive pirate, the seven seas can often be unpredictable. The group's previous trip to Melbourne was littered with car issues. “We broke down about three times going down there in our car,” Captain Gregaaarrr says.

“None of us cursed, none of us got upset about it, we all just sat down and played a game of I Spy while waiting three hours for a tow truck.”

Captain Gregaaarrr has always wanted to perform and began singing when he was just eight-years old. He participated in a number of music competitions and eisteddfods followed by musicals and singing the classics.

He even studied a Bachelor of Music majoring in jazz vocals. But it wasn't until many years later that he discovered “it’s a pirates life for me”.

The crew will pursue their dream of sailing the seven seas this March when they head to Europe. “We’ve got about five or six festivals lined up ready to go in different parts of Germany, UK, Switzerland and Spain, so we’re pretty keen to get over there,” Captain Gregaaarrr says.

“Europeans just go nuts, they dress up to the nines and come out in droves and get into it.”
