The stage was extravagant, the little monsters paws were up and there was only one thing missing – the Queen herself.
Lady Gaga played to a packed Brisbane Entertainment Centre last night (Tuesday 26th August) and was in full theatrical mode, something we have grown accustomed to seeing from the Paparazzi hit maker.
Known for her over the top performance stages, the artRAVE tour was no exception showcasing everything from giant inflatable balls to oversized mushrooms; it was a feast for all the senses.
Taking a moment to catch her breath several times (making sure to breathe heavily into her microphone to prove she wasn’t lip-syncing, something she was accused of doing at the Perth concert) Ms Gaga was very audience focused and shared many intimate moments with her young fans, some travelling as far as London for the experience.
This tour, which was Gaga’s first after breaking her hipbone last year and getting told by doctors that she may not perform again, has provided a sombre note for the star who took a moment to praise her loyal fan base who have stuck with her throughout. “It was a very emotional time for me – I would lie in my hotel bed every night and I could hear you all. And I cried and cried wondering whether I would be able to perform again,” she said.
The circus that is the artRAVE tour continues and Gaga’s next stop will be to Sydney where no doubt the outfits will be wilder and the hair bigger.
