La La Land @ The Prince Consort Celebrates Mardi Gras Weekend With DJ HMC & Late Nite Tuff Guy

Late Nite Tuff Guy aka DJ HMC
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

La La Land, Brisbane's newest up late playground located at The Prince Consort in Fortitude Valley, is home to your most exotic electronic music adventures.

This weekend (5-6 March), La La Land celebrate Mardi Gras with a double bill of their 'Make Love Louder' sessions featuring the finest house and techno kings and queens to keep you dancing all night.

The alter-ego of electro disco king Late Nite Tuff Guy (who makes an appearance on Saturday; more about that below), prolific Aussie export DJ HMC (known as the Godfather of Australian techno) headlines the Friday instalment of 'Make Love Louder'.

DJ HMC's mid-'90s bangers 'Phreakin', 'LSD' and '6AM' established his techno credentials before early naughties hit 'Marauder' confirmed his legendary status within the underground.

'Make Love Louder' will be DJ HMC's first Brisbane show for some time. He's joined by Super Jim Z, Personal Growth and Casino Mum.

On Saturday night, Late Nite Tuff Guy – best known for his disco re-edits including for the legendary Salsoul label as well as his own label Tuff Cuts – will headline 'Make Love Louder'. See why the likes of Jeff Mills, Todd Terje, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Steve Lawler and Carl Cox rate Late Nite Tuff Guy so highly.

Late Nite Tuff Guy will be supported by Sweaty Baby, Gissala and Galleon. Sweaty Baby will also be on the radio Saturday night from 10pm EST representing Shandy for triple j and their Mardi Gras edition of Mix Up.

There'll also be drag performances from Bebe Gunn, Henny Spaghetti, Anya Bike, Minion Laveau and Dolly Kicks, with dancing by Golda Guido and Shaye Baker.

The electro good times don't end there either, with La La Land set to welcome back the new bi-monthly residency from legends Sneaky Sound System (13 March) grounded in their much loved club night Sneaky Sounds.

Expect a celebration of house music, from slow-chugging disco burners to groove-laden techno stormers, where you always feel like you're in the middle of summer. Fyi, their December event sold out in advance, so you know what to do.

Tickets to all shows are now available.
