Sydney-based indie crooner Kyle Charles Hall's 'In Love, 23' is an anthem to self-love as the 'lover-boy' embraces the onset of 'adulthood' in his mid 20s.
Psych-flecked pop highlights the song's indie sensibilities; with its Sticky Fingers/ DMA'S tones meets Dope Lemon vibes, 'In Love, 23' is also reminiscent of Dominic Fike.
"'In Love, 23' is about a time in my life where I felt incredibly lost (quarter life crisis anyone?)," the Adelaide-born artist says.
"I feel like at this age you really start to notice how precious time is and this song was very much a step towards being more grateful for what I do have and loving the people around me with all I have."
'In Love, 23' is Kyle's first release in over a year. "This was an unusual song for me as I wrote it very stereotypically; edge of the bed, pen and paper and an acoustic guitar kinda vibe.
"The production I then did played a huge part in getting the song to sound how it does but at the heart of it, it's very much a singer-songwriter song.
"The first chorus of the song was actually live tracked, with me playing and singing it into one mic to sort of keep a little bit of how the song first sounded."
Maintaining the DIY aesthetics of the song, Kyle teamed with some of his mates for a care-free shoot for the video clip. "Me and my best mates over at Lemonade City shot this video in a day with next to no shot list.
"We all feel super passionate about what we make and we really just wanted to capture that love for the art, so we went out to a gorgeous-looking field and 'improvised'.
"We all grew up together so we were perfectly comfortable messing around and potentially looking like a wanker. It's nothing too serious, just some mates having a laff."
