Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall returns to Australia next year, honouring the 20th anniversary of her debut album, 'Eye To The Telescope'.
Only in the country earlier this year supporting Train in stripped-back duo mode – read our review of the Adelaide concert where we described KT as 'an absolute force' – Tunstall will bring her full band for headline shows in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide next May.
The concert will see KT perform 'Eye To The Telescope' in its entirety – a once in a lifetime experience for diehard fans – including the mega hits 'Suddenly I See' (which featured during the opening scene of 'The Devil Wears Prada' and led her to win the iconic Ivor Novello Award), 'Black Horse And The Cherry Tree', and 'Other Side Of The World'.
Originally released in December 2004 and nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2005, the album also features 'Universe & U', which along with 'Other Side Of The World' found their way into the public consciousness as part of 'Grey's Anatomy' soundtrack.
"When I made my very first record, 'Eye To The Telescope', it never crossed my mind where I might be when it turned 20," KT says. "It was a fantastically scrappy album to make, with very little money and a handful of musician friends.
"Over the years, I've been told the most amazing stories of what these songs mean to people all over the world, how they have kept them company through love and loss, through being lost and getting found. Needless to say, it's been a beautiful thrill."
Next month KT will release a special 20th anniversary version of 'Eye To The Telescope' (pre-order it). "I'm so grateful to be doing this 20 years later with all of you still along for the ride, so we're going BIG!
"I have a cosmic new version of the album coming on the 31st October, which features THREE unheard songs from the original album sessions. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for these last 20 years, you lot are incredible and I hope you really enjoy what's coming 🩵⚡️💜."
Tickets on sale from 10am (local time) on 2 October.
