Australian musician Kristy Coote released her new single 'Free Wind', from her upcoming album 'Favourite Things', late last year.
Coote's blend of acoustic roots with a heavy dose of pop has taken her around the world from Nashville to LA and back home again.
Along with what Coote describes as “easy listening pop” vibes on her new album 'Favourite Things', there will also be some surprises. “On the album I actually have a bonus track and it's got a rap version, and there are a couple of songs in there with a rap in the bridge. It's lots of different flavours, but you've still got your love songs!”
With the relatable 'Free Wind', Coote hopes audiences will embrace the message of her new track. “That particular song has more to do with... if ever in your life you come to a crossroads. You ask yourself whether or not you're going to keep on with your nine-to-five job, or are you going to pursue your passion in life?”
For the past ten years Coote has been back and forth between Nashville and Sydney, working with famous producers and writers in the legendary city of country music. Coote says of the Nashville folks: “They're the nicest people: southern people are just so accommodating and so lovely. Every year that I went over I made new friends in Nashville, and LA as well.”
Speaking of Nashville, Coote had her first starstruck moment when she met a famous country star in 2005. “When I first arrived in Nashville, Keith Urban actually tripped on me in a bar. That's one way of meeting someone! Which is hilarious, and he's so big over there. He's great.”
The 'Free Wind Tour' will feature special guest Tyrone Noonan (formerly of the band George) and gives Coote a chance to share her new album with the fans closest to her heart. “Nothing beats Australia, we're such a lucky country. I've got some great friends, fans and family here backing me and I just can't wait for everybody to listen to it!”
