The self-described 'patron saint of self-sabotage', Kiwi rocker Emma Dilemma has dropped 'Bounce', the newest single from her forthcoming debut record, that's bursting with loads of fun and is completely irreverent (the perfect distraction for the mess of 2020-2021).
With songwriting she filters through an absurdist lens – "I'm all about not taking life too seriously. . . [Like] spending too much on Uber Eats when you don't have any money and you've got a power bill sitting on your coffee table." – Emma Dilemma's style of indie rock is cheeky, lively, and vibrant.'Bounce' is a song Emma wrote about the ups and downs of a long-term relationship and how, despite some of the difficult aspects of making a relationship work, she'd rather spend the rest of her life with the person she's committed to rather than anyone else.
The accompanying music video is equally cheeky as Emma bounces around in her birthday suit.
"I wanted to be bold and challenge myself for the video of this song; how can I show sex without making a porno? How can I do that without oversexualising myself or being too serious?
"The name and playful nature of the song immediately brought jumping on trampolines to mind, and the rest kinda fell together with me being at a point in my life where, as a woman, I'm challenging myself to love the skin I'm in, and see my body the way my partner sees my body.
"I had a lot of fun making this video with Amber Beaton and I hope everyone gets a good laugh from watching it."
A member of Christchurch rockers Decades, Emma Dilemma will release her solo debut album 'Spit' later this year (29 October). Emma also plans to tour Australia to promote the album – if COVID allows it.
