New South Wales’ King Street Crawl will be expanded to King Street Carnival in 2021.
King Street Carnival – a multi-genre weekender of music set to take over Sydney Park Amphitheatre and Camperdown Rest Memorial Park this September.
The event will continue to honour the vibrant and multicultural layers of the Inner West as it has done since 2015 in the form of King Street Crawl. The line-up includes some of Australia’s loved up-and-coming artists and the event is set to feature this music programming among the bars, pubs, various venues, cafes and shops that line King Street and surrounds.
Kicking things off on Friday at the Amphitheatre will be Horrorshow, with their first show of 2021. Then, NZ rapper JessB will cross the ditch to deliver a fierce mix of hip hop, reggaeton and dancehall. Rounding out Friday will be Western Sydney soul trio Planet Vegeta, as well as Nardean, Half Queen, Carolina Gasolina and Dameeeela.
The heavy beats of Friday will be swapped for body-moving guitars on Saturday, as You Am I headline. Up next is Geelong’s Magic Dirt, pocket rocket Hayley Mary, pub-punk outfit Private Function, the rising passion of Johnny Hunter, garage punk party drivers Shogun & The Sheets and a bit of neo-psychedelia from The Laurels.
Meanwhile, over at Camperdown Park, Saturday punters will be treated to Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, WA’s Stella Donnelly, The Lazy Eyes, The Buoys, Maple Glider, 12-piece funk collective The Regime and psych-funk faves Joseph Liddy & The Skeleton.
The Amphitheatre will host the groovy Confidence Man and bass don Touch Sensitive, delivering a nostalgic mix of funk, disco and electronica. Melbourne’s Harvey Sutherland will leave the crowd swaying into the afternoon, while multi-instrumentalist Milan Ring and Sydneysider CLYPSO will turn it up with a fusion of beats for a jungle party. Lazywax will turn on the funk, and new kid on the block Liyah Knight will dip into old school R&B peppered with a dash of pop, alongside underground performer Setwun.
Yothu Yindi are at the forefront of the Sunday session at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park, with their fusion of traditional sounds and contemporary rock. Joining Sunday’s line-up is ARIA Award-winner Sarah Blasko, Alex The Astronaut, All Our Exes Live In Texas, Emma Donovan & The Putbacks, Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys and EJ Worland.
Tickets are on sale now.
