The ever-cool Kimbra is back.
Two-time Grammy Award-winning, critically acclaimed New Zealand songstress Kimbra has finally announced her return to Australia with a run of headline shows across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in support of her critically acclaimed new album 'Primal Heart'.
'Primal Heart' was released in April and shows a path of continuous evolution for the now New York-based singer, who emerged in 2010 with her colourful indie-pop singles ‘Settle Down’ and ‘Cameo Lover’.
Since becoming a household name in 2012 on her duet with Gotye on the ubiquitous eleven-time ARIA certified Platinum and multiple Grammy Award-winning single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, her own debut album 'Vows', released in the same year showcased the artistic breadth of a performer more eccentric and autonomous than simply a few fleeting vocal lines.
Kimbra has spent the past two years quietly assembling the new album, self-producing and mixing alongside co-producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Angel Olsen, Explosions In The Sky), among other producers in Los Angeles and New Zealand, including hit-machine Skrillex on 'Top of the World'.
Shifting gears with a soulful, sparse yet punchy electronic-pop record featuring singles 'Everybody Knows', 'Top Of The World' and 'Human', Kimbra offers an invitation for listeners to experience the inherent vulnerability in her voice, conveying raw emotion throughout each song.
Following up from her one-off performance at Arts Centre Melbourne’s 2017 Supersense festival and a run of shows through North America with Beck, ODESZA and Son Lux earlier this year, Kimbra finally returns to Australia as the pop music goddess we’ve always admired.
