Update - 17 August, 2022: With five dates already sold out, the Texan three-piece have announced a second and final Brisbane show – tixs on sale from 24 August. Scroll down for the new date.
Three years since they last graced Australian shores, Texas psych-funk, art-rock trio Khruangbin will return down under with a four-date tour landing in Fremantle, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne late 2022.
Two years removed from their 'Mordechai' album, last month Khruangbin released their 'Texas Moon' EP with Leon Bridges – the sister project to their 2020 EP 'Texas Sun'.Khruangbin's live shows are renowned worldwide, the trio of drummer Donald Ray 'DJ' Johnson Jr, virtuosic guitarist Mark Speer, and enigmatic bassist Laura 'Leezy' Lee sending fans into their own orbit with a 'mixtape of surf-rock cool, dubby disco and worldly funk'.
"AUSTRALIA HERE WE COME!!!!" the band posted to their socials.
LA tenor saxophonist and bandleader Kamasi Washington joins Khruangbin for the Melbourne leg, while Australia's own 'groove cosmonauts' Mildlife play the Melbourne, Fremantle and Brisbane shows.
"The universe has smiled upon us and we are runnin' around Australia with Khruangbin at the end of the year," beams Mildlife.
Tickets on sale from 2pm (local time) on 1 April.
