Led by Tim Rogers, Kylie Auldist, Mick Thomas, Debra Byrne and a stack of Victoria's most cherished music artists, Keep The Circle Unbroken tour is a series of concerts happening throughout regional Victoria next month.
Inspired by the 1972 album 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken' that the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band released to reunite a divided United States in the wake of the Vietnam War, Keep The Circle Unbroken aims to uphold the values of that record during another socially divided period of humanity.Set to visit Colac, Ternag, Port Fairy, Warrnambool, Traralgon, Bundalaguah, Archies Creek, Mornington Peninsula, Macedon, Benalla, Marysville, Bendigo, Watchem, Jeparrit, and Ballarat, each show will feature a different mix of artists.
An audible bridge between generations, cultures, sexes, politics, race, and musical genre, each concert will feature musicians performing in a circle to represent sitting around a campfire, being at the family dinner table, or at a traditional music session, as they share stories, thoughts and memories handed down from generation to generation.
The concert series was the concept of Row Jerry Crow's mandolin/ songwriter Delsinki and fiddle player John Kendall.
"In a world that seems to be at each other's throats every other second, and not LISTENING to each other, we wanted to create a musical message that would inspire everybody to stop and reflect on what is important in life.
"Putting our heads together we thought we'd get our eclectic bunch of mates all together in one room and show the connection artistry that comes from music. We got an incredible response."
