Katy Steele 2023 Australia Tour

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Australian artist Katy Steele returns with the infectious new single 'Come And See Me', a precursor to her new studio album 'Big Star' (due 9 June).

Shiny, glittery alt-pop bursting with '80s-flavoured synths and pounding drums that compel you to lace up your sneakers for a dance/ run, Katy wrote, recorded and produced 'Come And See Me' in her home studio with the help of Josiah Padmanabam (Grevious Bodily Calm.

"This song was born when we were asked to contribute a song for a travel campaign that never eventuated," shares Katy.

"We were trying to capture the spontaneity of two people travelling, exploring new terrain and looking for a new landscape.

"We were drawn to the classic feel of those '80s hits with the big synths and wanted the song to feel nostalgic, like hearing a classic track for the first time."

Steele will embark on a national tour in July-August visiting Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong, Adelaide, Hobart, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne and other regional centres.

'Come And See Me' is the third single lifted from 'Big Star' following previous singles 'End Is Near' and 'Feel So Bad'.

"Like many projects that demand so much energy and creativity, there were times I questioned everything," Katy says, discussing the creative process for 'Big Star'.

"However, one of the most important lessons I've learnt about myself is that I will never stop creating, no matter what life throws my way. This is what I was born to do.

"All of the elements that you will experience when listening were lovingly created and recorded in my home studio, by me and my life partner.

"To be able to hit record whenever you feel that spark inside you is pretty incredible. The world we live in is forever changing and now this album is a part of it."

Tickets are on sale.
