With the debut performance of her new musical comedy 'Bananaland' at Brisbane Festival later this month, Kate Miller-Heidke will then embark on a massive theatre tour of metro and regional Australia early next year.
Kate has also released the first single from 'Bananaland', a song about the glorious absurdity of following an impossible dream titled 'True North' featuring Max McKenna who performs the lead role of Ruby Semblance in the musical comedy."Max is in possession of one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard," shares Kate. "On stage Max is hilarious, radiant, heartbreaking. . . just a superstar. To write for their voice is a privilege!"
From mid January to early March next year, Miller-Heidke will travel throughout east-coast Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia for live performances of her greatest hits, beloved pop songs, as well as tracks from her original musicals, some unexpected covers, the odd request, and telling stories from across her varied career.
Fans can also expect to hear material from Kate's forthcoming sixth studio album that's billed to explore 'gothic folk' sounds. "Playing live has always been at the heart of what I do – I live for it," Kate says.
"I can't wait to get back to some places I haven't been in AGES, and some I've never been to, and connect with my amazing audiences across Australia. Regional crowds are some of the greatest people to play for."
Special guest Georgia Mooney will join Kate at all shows.
'Bananaland' plays at QPAC as part of Brisbane Festival from 16 September to 1 October.
Tickets to the 2024 tour on sale from 10am EST on 6 September.
