After spending most of their summer in a Perth studio working on a new album, Australian prog-rock lords Karnivool are ready to showcase their new material.
Set to take on 13 shows in the heart of winter, the band will headline concerts in Hobart, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Canberra, Barwon Heads, Frankston, Melbourne and Adelaide, before a hometown show in Fremantle in mid October."We can't bloody wait to get out there and share what's been brewing in the Karnivool riff pot, and show folks what they have to look forward to," frontman Ian Kenny says.
It's been a severely long wait for Karnivool's fourth studio album, with their last record being their J Award-nominated 'Asymmetry' that was released in 2013. These most recent recording sessions are the band's third attempt at writing and producing a new album (third time's the charm, apparently).
Although no concrete date has been set for an album drop, what the band can promise fans on this run of shows is: 'New material, road-tested for the first time. Old material, bent into new shapes; and something else brewing underneath it all – call it momentum, or maybe just the start of whatever's next.'
With a catalogue of hits that includes 'Themata', 'New Day', 'Goliath', 'We Are', 'Cote' and 'All I Know', the next chapter of Karnivool is fast approaching and this run of shows is your opportunity to get a taste before the rest of the world.
