Beloved UK indie icons, Kasier Chiefs are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album 'Employment' with their first Australian tour in 13 years.
Originally released March 2005, next month, 18 July to be exact, marks the milestone when the band will release the 20th anniversary edition of their seminal album (pre-order it), a record that introduced the work of the indie rock, post punk, power pop band from Leeds. The Australian tour, to take place this November, will see headline concerts in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Alongside the mega hits 'I Predict A Riot' and 'Everyday I Love You Less And Less', 'Employment' also features fan favourites 'Oh My God' and 'Modern Way' as well as deeper cuts like the irresistible fun of 'Na Na Na Na Naa' and 'Time Honoured Tradition', plus the post-punk-Beach Boys inspired 'You Can Have It All' and 'What Did I Ever Give You?'.
One of the most successful debut albums from a UK band, 'Employment' peaked at #2 on the UK album chart. The record has since spent more than 17 months on the Official Top 40 chart, selling more than 2.1 million copies in the process, and being certified 7x Platinum status by the British Phonographic Industry.
"Twenty years ago, a brand new song by a brand new band was released. 'I Predict A Riot' was the start of something really special for some musicians from Leeds," the band reminisced.
"The album that followed, 'Employment', changed our lives and has soundtracked the lives of millions of others since 2005. In 2025 we are saluting 20 years of that album and everyone is invited. Come celebrate the 2000s, loving everything less and less, and stripey blazers taking over the world."
The band have released eight original studio albums (two of those UK #1s), had nine Top 40 singles, including the #1 'Ruby', received three Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello Album Of The Year Award for 'Employment', toured with U2, Foo Fighters and Green Day and sold more than eight million albums worldwide.
