Justin Brady Bushfire Benefit

Justin Brady
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Memo Music Hall will be holding a benefit for musician Justin Brady, who lost his house and all he owns in the recent Mallacoota bushfires.

Few will soon forget the images of Mallacoota residents stranded on the beach waiting for evacuation as fires ensnared the coastal town. Among its residents is Justin Brady, formerly of Things Of Stone And Wood, who had permanently relocated to Mallacoota from Melbourne just two months prior.

A group of Melbourne’s finest musicians come together to perform and raise funds, with all proceeds going directly to Justin so he can rebuild. Justin built the house himself 25 years ago and had intended to use it as a base of operations but had only recently made the move to live there.

Greg Arnold from Things Of Stone And Wood, Delsinki, Brooke Taylor, Bob Valentine, James Black, Tracey Miller, Bob Sedergreen, The Shuffle Club and Wayne Jury will all be playing throughout the night.

Justin Brady is well known to Australian music industry as an electrifying harmonica player. He is most well-known as a multi-instrumentalist for ARIA Award-winning band Things of Stone And Wood. Justin is also the winner of the Golden Harmonica award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2006, which sadly perished in the fire.

The Justin Brady Bushfire Benefit is on at Memo Music Hall (Melbourne) 27 February.
