Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter José González returns to Australia as part of his Veneer 20th anniversary tour.
The renowned storyteller will headline concerts in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane as well as appearing at WOMADelaide next March celebrating his acclaimed 2003 debut album 'Veneer', which produced the mega hits 'Heartbeats' and 'Crosses'. José launched the Veneer 20th anniversary tour earlier this year at the Sydney Opera House as part of Vivid Live.'Veneer' would introduce the world to Jose's ethereal sounds, beautiful, serene melodies and soul-stirring storytelling – a record that would sell one million copies featuring just González's voice and the plucking of an acoustic guitar's nylon strings.
"Twenty years ago, something magical happened," shares Zane Lowe discussing 'Veneer'. "In the space between technology and ideology, two terms that have been fighting each other to define the days that have come since an album appeared.
"A collection of songs that seemed defiantly out of place. Yet somehow, these songs knew themselves. Which, thinking back on it now, better explains why their creator, a young Swedish musician called José González, felt so familiar to us so quickly."
This celebration of musical brilliance will remind fans of this album's profound impact on their lives alongside Jose's extended back catalogue that now stretches four records deep, his most recent being 2021's 'Local Valley'.
Tickets on sale from 10am (local time) on 11 October. WOMADelaide tickets are on sale.
