With a freshly-minted single, 'I Don't Belong', in his back pocket, Brisbane-based singer-songwriter Jordan Merrick is prepping for the release of his debut album, 'Night Music', with a run of live dates.
Brisbane, Melbourne, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast will welcome the folk-blues troubadour, who'll perform cuts off 'Night Music', which was recorded and produced by the ARIA-winning production guru Steven Schram (Paul Kelly, The Cat Empire).
"I'm really excited," Jordan told us in a recent interview that you can read in the next QLD print edition, "because previously playing my solo shows for the two EPs it was very much a folk, playing-on-my-own type show. Whereas with this upcoming tour there will be a lot more elements: piano, electric, acoustic.
"We're going to be doing a few different setups. Especially playing a bunch of the shows with Amela and Leonie Kingdom, who both did a song with me on the album, having them play the shows and being able to perform the songs that we recorded together live will be really special."
Prior to the release of the album (due out 25 October), Merrick will perform a special, pre-release show (19 October) at Vinnies Dive (Gold Coast).
The album see Merrick trawling his rawest emotions, each track moving between feelings and stories that explore and exude happiness and love to loneliness, despair and sorrow.
