Post punk, new wave rockers, Johnny Hunter will embark on their very first national headline tour with a nine-date run throughout July.
The band – who recently completed a double residency in Sydney at Botany View Hotel and Old Bar – will be touring their debut album 'Want', which is slated for release late next month.Since emerging from Sydney's underground in 2019, Johnny Hunter have become cult heroes in their home town renowned for an unruly, wild live show.
The band will headline shows in Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Hobart.
'Want' – which was recorded with producer Jack Moffitt (The Preatures) and mixed by engineer Adam Greenspan (IDLES, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) – finds the band exploring new wave and new romantic tones and flavours designed for the 21st century.
"Every song is a challenge we faced as a band and as individuals in realising who Johnny Hunter is and ultimately who we truly are," shares frontman Nick Hutt.
"No matter how different we may seem. . . unbeknownst to what it is we want, we have all been naive, we have all strived to find our version of life, we all fear change, fear sadness, all amidst our own collective fading eternity."
'Want' will be released 24 June, 2022. Pre-order it.
Tickets are on sale.
