Jimmy Eat World Are Surviving As They Return To Oz

Jimmy Eat World are in Australia in March for the first time in three years, for Download Festival plus sideshows.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

This month, one of the defining acts of American rock music, Jimmy Eat World, will be playing shows in Australia for the first time in three years.

Jimmy Eat World embark on the tour off the back of their recently released tenth studio album 'Surviving', playing just three headline shows in Fremantle, Brisbane and Adelaide (alongside their appearance at Download Festival in Sydney and Melbourne).

Coming three years after 2016’s 'Integrity Blues', 'Surviving' is Jimmy Eat World’s most personal, ambitious album to date. With 25 years and 10 albums so far, frontman Jim Adkins proves once again why he’s one of the most prolific songwriters in rock & roll.

Formed in Arizona in 1993, Jimmy Eat World maintain elevated status in alternative rock circles. Releasing a series of albums throughout the '90s, Jimmy Eat World found mainstream commercial success in 2001 album 'Bleed American'. The album's second single 'The Middle' reached number one on the Alternative Singles chart, with the other three singles all charting within the top 20 positions.

Together with bandmates Rick Burch, Tom Linton and Zach Lind, Jimmy Eat World’s hard-rocking melodies and killer lyrics have won over fans for more than two decades now, thanks to iconic tracks such as: ‘Bleed American’, ‘The Middle’, ‘Sweetness’, ‘Pain’, ‘I Will Steal You Back’, ‘Always Be’, ‘Sure And Certain’ and many more.

Download Festival is on at Melbourne Showgrounds 20 March and The Domain (Sydney) 21 March.
