Beloved Australian artists The John Butler Trio, Clare Bowditch and Missy Higgins will all take part in a free, open air concert in Melbourne's Federation Square to raise awareness about the Save The Kimberley campaign.
The event – Concert For The Kimberley – is part of the ongoing movement to save Western Australia's Kimberley from threat and destruction. Oil and gas companies have long been making plans to turn the Kimberley's stunning James Prices Point into a site for Australia's biggest industrial development.
The longest chain of dinosaur footprints on the earth were discovered at James Prices Point, which is a place of Indigenous heritage as well as home to thousands of plant and animal species – some of which are endangered.
JBT and Clare Bowditch (in the middle of her national tour) will provide musical performances at the concert, while Missy Higgins will send a message of support from the USA where she is currently stationed.
Former Australian Greens leader Bob Brown will also contribute to the efforts; he'll address the crowds, and the whole thing will be broadcast live internationally.
Concert For The Kimberley will take place in Federation Square on Friday, October 5 between 6pm and 9pm.
