Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme has called Jay Z a 'kook' after performing at the rapper's 'Made In America' festival in Philadelphia.
The band delivered a 13-song set at the September 1 bash, but it was the treatment received before they went on stage that Homme took issue with.
“That guy's a kook, you know,” he stated. In an interview with CBC Radio 2's “Strombo Show”, Homme said Jay Z had his security frisking the bands on the way in. “No one has ever done that. You shouldn't frisk my guys, you should fuck off.”
Homme explained that he ended up giving the security guard an ultimatum. “I just told him, 'if you open up my bag, then we're not playing, so I guess its up to you now whether I'm playing or not.”
Furthermore, the mogul allegedly asked the band to pose with a bottle of his own brand of champagne at the event.
“I was like, 'that's not a gift – that's a marketing tool.' I destroyed it cos I thought it was rude overall.”
Later in the interview, unidentified thumping noises could be heard and Homme was quick to have another stab.
“This is me breaking Jay Z's gifts. People never say anything bad about Jay Z, do they?”
Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix, A$AP Rocky, Calvin Harris and Jay Z's wife Beyonce also performed at the rapper's Made In America festival this year.
Well, there goes the dream of a Josh/Jay collaboration.
