American singer-songwriter and guitarist, Jason Isbell and his band The 400 Unit will return to Australia next year.
The four-time Grammy Award winner will play headline concerts in Sydney and Melbourne early April; the week of the Easter long weekend to be specific (wink, wink Bluesfest). The Americana, folk artist – who spent six years with Drive By Truckers in the 2000s – broke through as a solo artist with his 2013 album 'Southeastern' (that Rolling Stone ranked #458 in their 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time in 2020).
His next two albums – 'Something More Than Free' (2015) and 'The Nashville Sound' (2017) – won him Grammy Awards for Best Americana Album and Best American Roots Song, while his song 'Maybe It's Time' was featured in the 2019 reboot of 'A Star Is Born'.
Isbell's most recent release was a special covers album titled 'Georgia Blue' last year featuring rendition of songs originally recorded by Georgia natives including R.E.M., James Brown, Cat Power, Otis Redding, The Black Crowes, and The Allman Brothers Band.
