Island Vibe Festival is the annual, three-day fiesta held on North Stradbroke Island that celebrates all things island culture, offering punters a plethora of entertainment including over 80 different musical acts, art exhibitions, interactive workshops, stalls, circus, eco-food and craft markets.
2015 marks the tenth year for the festival, and to honour the occasion Island Vibe organisers are enlisting the help of fans to raise $10,000 to create the first-ever vinyl edition of the festival's annual 'Island Vibe' compilation release.
The ten-year commemorative compilation vinyl will feature a 'best of' selection of tracks gathered during the past ten years (plus a few new tracks) and will combine smooth island soul, reggae, international bass sounds, sublime dubs and rare instrumentals.
As per tradition, the compilation will be selected by Festival Director and head honcho, Señor Rudie (of Rudekat Records), with the assistance of local, legendary producer and long-time festival compilation co-compiler, Lord Tanuki (aka Paulie B).
Along with the commemorative records, the money raised will go towards creating Bamboo USB featuring the ENTIRE back catalogue of tunes from the festival compilation series - over 150 great tracks and rare instrumentals from such artists: Easy Star All-Stars, J-Pod, Cornerstone Roots, Lotek, The Black Seeds, Chali 2na, The Red Eyes, Little Bushman, Kooii, Kingfisha, Dynamic Thrills, Dubmarine, Laneous, Georgia Potter, House Of Shem, Mista Savona, The Nomad and many more.
Depending on the size of the donation, contributors will be rewarded with a variety of festival related goodies. $10 will get you a shout-out on social media; $40 will get you your own copy of the commemorative vinyl; while a $200 investment will score the ultimate 'Fiesta Fiend' prize pack, which includes a ticket to the three-day festival.
With $4,000 of the $10,000 funds required already pledged, deadline to contribute to the Pozible campaign is 27 July.
Island Vibe Festival will be held 30 October until 1 November.
