Irish-born Canadian folk singer-songwriter returns this summer for what will be her fifth Australian tour, with appearances scheduled for some of our biggest national folk festivals plus her own headline shows.
Irish Mythen's summer Australian tour has the outspoken troubadour travelling the country from January to April with 22 stops in metropolitan and regional centres. Her folk festival run also includes her second appearance at Woodford Folk Festival and her third time playing Byron Bay Bluesfest.
With a new album ready to show off, Irish is looking forward to getting the seal of approval from Australian crowds, who she says have never shy about expressing what they think.
“Australians have been so behind and so appreciative of my earlier music and I just cant wait to get the new music out there,” Irish says.
“I love that connection with the Aussie crowd: they're so accepting of new music and they tell you how it is, so they're always the benchmark for me. The Aussie audience is going to tell you if the stuff is good or not.
“I've been lucky so far, so I hope that continues,” she laughs. “There's some new songs, some new banter and I just can't wait to get over there and start playing; I'm champing at the bit already.”
