Ipswich has a new Battle Of The Bands competition.
Ipswich City Square in the Ipswich Mall will see 20 bands from all music genres and all age groups, take to the stage in July for the launch of a brand new annual event, the Ipswich Battle of the Bands, with major prizes and an opportunity for huge audience exposure on offer.
From rap and hip-hop, to metal, screamo, Top 40 and more, each competing band will receive a 10-minute performance slot where they’ll try to wow both the judges and the audiences in a bid to win a 5-hour recording session, a music video shoot, and media exposure in local and metro media. All back-end will be set up, with a full drum kit and riser, mics, amps, mixers and sound production all provided throughout the day.
The Ipswich City Square creative team say that they are looking for the next big Aussie act and that they are keen to help support and build the local music scene in Ipswich. They say that they are focused on developing a creative and vibrant hub in the centre of town to encourage people to visit, stay and play in Ipswich.
“Battle of the Bands is a great opportunity for local musos to get up on stage, engage with a live audience, and get valuable feedback from music industry specialists. It’s also a great chance to show visitors how great Ipswich really is and to encourage them to see our city centre.”
With a line-up of judges from a variety of industry backgrounds: music media (including presenting partner scenestr), magazines, radio and creative media, the winning band will have the chance to pick up prizes that could take their act to a whole new and professional level.
The annual Ipswich Record Fair will be in the Centre on the day, offering a huge range of music collectables and vinyl.
Battle of the Bands kicks off at 11am on Saturday 4th of July, 2015.
