Introducing Tongue Tied Thieves

Tongue-Tied Thieves
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Tongue Tied Thieves combine hard-hitting drums, distorted guitars and soulful vocal melodies to create a sound that encapsulates high-intensity rock jams to slower, indie-pop tracks.

After supporting the likes of Mitzi and British India, TTT will play a show alongside Ball Park Music later this month.

Who is Tongue Tied Thieves... We're a Sunshine Coast three-piece, indie-rock band.

Tongue Tied Thieves.2We sound like... A jazzed-up Powderfinger crossed with The Jungle Giants.

Our first gig was... At Solbar supporting Mitzi; their lead singer saw us play at our high school formal and asked us to support them.

When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... We’d like to say we opened a dictionary and they were the first three words to show up, but actually our friend came up with the name and we thought it had a nice sound to it; rolls off the tongue.

In the studio we usually... Try and keep an open-mind and move with the song and the direction it's heading.

If we could tour with anyone... We’d love to tour with any band with a similar style of music, a band or musician we could connect with.

Social media is... A great way to reach out, but can become tedious at times.

My favourite app at the moment is... Monsters Ate My Condo, Doodle Jump and Kyle’s personal favourite, Tinder.

To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... Jordan’s pedalboard is like a printer that never wants to work for you; always a problem for us on stage.

Life on the road can be... Fun, hectic and life-changing.

If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... Beer, usually. But we’re not fussy.

What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... Samuel L. Jackson, because of 'Snakes On A Plane'.

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party… Bilbo Baggins, Brian (From Solbar) and Emma Watson.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? A nice roast chicken with gravy, vegetables and mash.

No matter the expense, send me a case of... Glitter.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... Kyle’s studio is a shed and once was a gym, so last band practice.

Tongue Tied Thieves and Jeremy Neal will support Ball Park Music at the Lake Kawana Community Centre, Sunshine Coast, 21 February.
