Melbourne act The Harpoons will release their long-awaited debut album, ‘Falling For You’, Friday September 26.
Before that, the band will take their soulful sounds north playing a Bigsound showcase at The Brightside on Thursday 11th September. The band will then head to Sydney’s Brighton Up Bar on Friday 12th September.
We sound like... We try to sound like we know how to play music, we don't always pull it off. In a perfect world it'd be: pop + R&B + marimba vibes.
Our first gig was... I think there may have been one or two Harpoons gigs before I was in the band, but the first gig I remember playing was about six years ago at Pony (now Boney). Although it could have been this house party we did at Bec's brother's place where they had us playing inside an ornate cage that was constructed across the whole porch, presumably to keep thieves out.
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... Pretty sure our lead singer Bec came up with the name, I don't think it was ever disputed.
In the studio we usually... Sip S. Pellergrino.
If we could tour with anyone... Probs Solange; she kills it, and I was devastated to turn up to Falls Festival where we were playing last year, just as she was finishing her set only because of some ridiculous detour :(
Social media is... Something we are slowly getting better at.
My favourite app at the moment is... For a while it was this one called Bit Coin Bleep, which basically just gives you a little bleep every time bit coin reaches a new height, but since bit coin took a steep dive a few months ago, the app has fallen into disuse.
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... Potentially one gig where Marty didn't show up, but that was many, many years ago and we don't bring it up anymore.
Life on the road can be... We take planes.

The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... Not to make light of actual scary things/ places, but personally I find the internet to be the scariest place. The move from Myspace to Facebook was really rough on all of us — and I still think Myspace customisations were some of the greatest artistic works the internet has seen.
What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... A young Diesel.
Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Bec, Henry and Marty because we have actually been planning on having a dinner and haven't gotten around to it for ages.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Probably something vegetarian just in case, maybe.
Damn the expense, send me a case of... Lattes?
The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... This arvo, shortly before I went to the theatre. I try and keep it cosmopolitan.
What's the one chore you dislike the most? Getting our tracks mastered — I still don't really get what it is for.
