Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Direct from the northern reaches of Tasmania, Hammy is ready to unveil his debut single, 'What You Do'.

Inspired to be a rapper after attending a Bliss N Eso show when he was 15, 'What You Do' presents sharp bars and huge hooks from the young artist intent on releasing more new music soon.

Who is HAMMY... I started off making songs on a $40 microphone when I was 16 and kept writing whenever I had spare time, spent all my money in grade 11 on a Rode microphone and haven't looked back since.

I sound like... I strive for a unique style but if I had to say someone, my flow is sometimes like Kwame; he has influenced my style since he was one of the first rappers I listened to when I was younger and first started writing.

My first gig was... I haven't had a gig; this is my debut single.

When did you settle on your artist name... I tossed around a few names and never really decided on a name until sometime last year where I chose Hammy, which is my nickname that most friends call me.

In the studio I usually... Like to have a coffee beforehand, so I'm extra hype haha, then I like to listen to a range of different beats and then choose the one that I'm vibing with the most and start writing.

If I could tour with anyone... It would be J Cole or Brockhampton because they are my idols and I always listen to them; never get tired of their music.

My favourite app at the moment is... Instagram because I like keeping up with other artists and sharing memes with my mates aha. Sometimes I find myself opening Instagram and not remembering opening it because I'm on the app so much.

To date, my most embarrassing moment was the time… When I was playing Aussie Rules when I was younger I slipped over in the goal square when I was running backwards and the other team kicked the goal and all my friends pissed themselves.

Life on the road can be… I'm not allowed in the front seat of cars as I am notorious for falling asleep for nearly the whole way; I can sleep anywhere.

If you'll have me on your bill, all I ask is that the rider contains... Beers and pizza.

The most scary scenario I've found myself in, was... When the person who was meant to pick me and my brother up from sport (I won't say who, haha) when we were like 13 forgot to pick us up and we had no phone and waited in the dark for ages.

What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... David Attenborough to engage everyone.

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Again, J Cole and any two members of Brockhampton so I could ask for music tips.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Pizza. My signature dish, can't go wrong.

No matter the expense, send me a case of... Tooheys Extra Dry; has been my case of choice for a while now; always quenches my thirst.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... Haha. I haven't gone since corona stopped me and now I'm battling the joining phase again.

What's the one chore you dislike the most? Dishes because I hate touching people's leftover food.

Do you have any phobias? Sharks, I watched 'Jaws' when I was way too young and it has scarred me.

Would you ever partake in a reality show? Anything like 'Survivor', 'Amazing Race'. I think it would be hilarious competing with one of my friends.

If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? Literally today, I just found a massive 2l vinegar jug in my pantry so I will be swapping my friend's last bit of vodka with that this weekend.
