Pretty Thrills is the quartet of Max Donnellan (guitar/ lead vocals), Bryce Donnellan (bass/ backing vocals), Kai Weinbeck (guitar), and Josh Bernard (drums).
The Sydney pop-rock group recently released their debut, self-titled EP, which explores an overarching theme of being tied down in toxic relationships fuelled by drugs before finally breaking free.With explosive riffs, massive drum fills, big sub-drops and melodic synth lines, Max shares a few moments with us to answer a few of our Introducing questions.
Who is Pretty Thrills? We're a pop-rock band from Sydney and we just released our debut EP. We formed from the break-up of a previous band and with our debut EP out in the world are ready to hit the live scene.
We sound like... Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco.
Our first gig was... Meant to be at Frankie's Pizza (in Sydney) in May but COVID-19 put a stop to that, so we're yet to play our first show.
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... The band name was an idea that our singer came up with and was the best name from the list we had, and it just stuck.
In the studio we usually... Jam, talk sh.t and have a laugh.
If we could tour with anyone... It would be Fall Out Boy or Bring Me The Horizon.
Social media is... A blessing and a curse. It's the best way to promote yourself, but it can be addictive as all hell – digital crack hahaha!
My favourite app at the moment is... Uber Eats. I'm a sucker for pizza haha!
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... In our previous band just before the break-up, we rocked up at a venue with the intention to play but our manager 'forgot' to contact the venue and we had to reason with them to let us play.
Life on the road can be... Lonely.
If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... No brown M&Ms haha!
The most scary scenario I've found myself in, was... Being in a band with Josh is kinda scary sometimes. It's like being in the jungle, you never know what you'll discover next haha!
What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band? Probably Liam Gallagher, simply because he's one of the coolest dudes alive.
Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party? Liam Gallagher, Paul McCartney and Jerry Seinfeld. They're three of my favourite individuals and I think it would be a dinner party to remember.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? I'm a pretty useless cook, so probably toast... even though I'd probably burn it.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... I don't think there's been a first time let alone a last time haha!
What's the one chore you dislike the most? I HATE ironing.
Do you have any phobias... please explain? Bryce is terrified of spiders; we don't really know why.
Would you ever partake in a reality show? I'd like to pull a Crafter and go on 'Big Brother', haha!
If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? I can't give that one away, it will ruin the surprise haha!
