Sisters Doll are three Melbourne brothers who began jamming in their back shed three years ago.
The glam rockers are on a mission to bring wild lipstick, high heels, hats, chains, spandex and more make-up to as many stages as they can.
Who is Sisters Doll... We have taken every opportunity possible to perform and bring glam back to rock & roll. We have imagined, we have dreamed and we have become SISTERS DOLL. Welcome to the Dollhouse — are you ready to play?
We sound like... An old ‘70s and ‘80s sound with a modern twist. We are influenced by bands like KISS, Motley Crue, Poison and Alice Cooper just to name a few.
Our first gig was... At a 60th birthday party believe it or not. It was a big 60th party in our old home town of Collie in WA and about six bands played on the night. We only played for about 20 minutes — it was a unique first gig haha.When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... Pretty early on. It’s the hardest thing to come up with a name, but we were up late one night sitting on the computer and we decided to mould ‘Twisted Sister’ with the ‘New York Dolls’ to get ‘Sisters Doll’, and because we are all brothers and don’t have any sisters we thought it would be a cool cliché haha.
In the studio we usually... Are excited and motivated to do the best we can do. We try not to waste anytime and get the most out of our time in the studio. The studio is like our heaven, we love it even though we are still new to the whole recording process.If we could tour with anyone... It would be with the mighty rock legends KISS. They are our biggest inspiration and influence and that would be a mutual dream come true for all of us.
Social media is... A great way to promote and get your music out to the world. It’s a great tool and we enjoy using it to the band’s advantage. It’s a part of our world now, so you just have to use it the best way you can.
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... We were on a way to a gig during the day and we were about ten minutes from the gig, but the axel of our trailer snapped causing the trailer to lose a tyre. Luckily there was a welding shop close by, so our dad went to the welders and left us on the side of the busy highway standing next to a trailer all dressed in glam rock clothing with make up and big hair. We would have looked like drag queens to all the people passing by haha!
Life on the road can be... Very long and tough, and not everything goes smooth and according to plan. But we always seem to pull through and make the most of the opportunities — we just love it because we are all brothers. It’s like a big family road trip all the time. We love the road.
If you’ll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... A big dressing room with three life size mirrors with lights around them with a never-ending supply of hair spray haha. Maybe one day we can request this, you can only dream.
The most scary scenario we’ve found ourselves in, was... We were on the way to a gig and the next thing we know this big semi-truck came right up behind us to overtake us and the overtaking line was ending and he started to come over to our side of the road forcing us to pull off of the road with our trailer hooked on. We slid onto the rocks and nearly tipped — we thought we were going to die!
What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... We would like to have Mr Gene Simmons as our spokesperson because he is so switched on and knows just about everything about the music industry and we would learn a lot from Mr Simmons.
Three people you’d like to invite around for a dinner party... Ace Frehley, Ariana Grande and Tommy Lee.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? We would cook you beautiful Italian spaghetti. We grew up in an Italian household and our grandparents know how to make great Italian food, so have your appetite ready when you come to our house.
Damn the expense, send me a case of... Either drumsticks because our drummer Lipz goes through them like they're going out of fashion or guitar strings because you can never have enough guitar strings.
