With a classic-rock sound that harkens back to the days of Led Zeppelin and Bad Company, Rose Carleo Band are harnessing the momentum their lead singer built last year competing on 'The Voice'.
With a mandate to bring back swagger, groove and big riffs to modern rock & roll, Rose Carleo Band continue that assignment with their newest release, 'Son Of God', which was written as a tribute to a close friend and devoted supporter.
It delivers driving riffs, muscular grooves, and Carleo's unmistakable vocal power – an explosive statement of intent as the band charges into a huge year ahead with a stack of live shows in the coming months (scroll down for the dates).
Who is... Rose Carleo Band is an Australian blues-rock and hard-rock outfit led by powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Rose Carleo, with Mick Adkins on guitar, Bill Kervin on bass, and Mick O'Shea on drums.
The band delivers a modern edge and raw intensity to every performance, fusing gritty riffs, soul-soaked vocals, and driving rhythms inspired by classic rock icons like Led Zeppelin and Bad Company.
They have released standout singles such as 'Battle Scars' and 'Daisy's Song', and continue to tour nationally and internationally – including a Japan tour scheduled for April 2026.
We sound like... A mix of classic rock grit with soulful blues – think Led Zeppelin meets Bad Company with a Janis Joplin edge backed by that classic Australian pub-rock groove.
Our first gig was... At the Bridge Hotel in 2016.
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... Mick O'Shea and our previous bass player Steve King came up with Rose Carleo Band to continue the Rose Carleo brand.
In the studio we usually... Work collaboratively. While Mick Adkins is our musical director, most of the songwriting starts with him and I, and then Bill and Shady bring their own ideas to complete the sound. It's a process that blends structure with spontaneity, letting everyone leave their mark on the music.
If we could tour with anyone... Either Dirty Honey or The Dead Daisies – love them both! Dirty Honey – no question. They've brought swagger, groove and big riffs back to modern rock, and that's exactly the lane we live in.
The Dead Daisies – big riffs, big choruses, and that no-nonsense rock energy. Our styles would complement each other perfectly.
My favourite app at the moment is... YouTube. From live-show clips to fan covers and tutorials, it's the ultimate way to see and share music with people all over the world – plus, it's endless inspiration for new songs.
Life on the road can be... Exhilarating, chaotic, and completely addictive. One night you're killing it onstage, the next you're chasing sunrise on an endless highway, and you wouldn't trade it for anything.
If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... Strong espresso, sparkling water, a solid cheese platter, and something sweet for after the show. Oh, and beer for the lads and fireball whisky for me!
What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... Joan Jett. Raw, rebellious, and unapologetically rock – the perfect embodiment of grit and attitude.
If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? Nashville – it's not just country anymore. The musicianship, songwriting culture, and live scene are world-class. You're surrounded by players who live and breathe music.
Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Bon Scott – gritty Aussie charm, whiskey wisdom, and wild tales from the road.
Robert Plant – classic-rock royalty, vocal powerhouse, and master storyteller; he'd bring legendary insight and stage wisdom; and I love him!
Ozzy Osbourne – because every legendary dinner party needs a bit of chaos and unpredictable commentary.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? My world-famous lasagne! Haha!
When it comes to pets are you a lover or hater of our furry friends? LOVER! Especially dogs 😊.
Do you have any phobias... Not keen on snakes – I can handle a sold-out crowd and a wall of amps, but a snake? That's where I tap out and run for the hills.
Would you ever partake in a reality show? I did last year. 'The Voice Australia'. As far as the fellas go, maybe not hahahaha!
Best local takeaway joint for a midnight feed that will leave you with a food coma? Any late-night pizza place.
Which fictional character best describes your personality? Well, AI says Sarah Connor ('Terminator' series) representing a relentless, gritty and fiercely protective 'rock chick' who fights against the odds (or ageism) to stay on top.
Last show you binge-watched (and what kept you glued to the screen)? 'Mr Inbetween'.
What hooked me was the way he carries out his jobs so casually, almost like it's just another day at the office, yet he's capable of surprising compassion in the most unexpected moments. He's confronting, complex, and somehow still incredibly likeable.
