Introducing Pop-Punk Band Two Times Shy

Two Times Shy are a Brisbane-based pop-punk band.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

A Brisbane-based pop-punk band who emerged in 2021 before coalescing their current unit last year, Two Times Shy write songs about 'personal struggles and sincere stories' that tribute the many bands who've played Warped.

After releasing two singles in the second half of last year, 'Lonely' and 'You And I', Two Times Shy maintain the momentum with their third single, 'Tearing Up Inside' that teases their debut EP 'It Looks Better Than It Sounds' (released 10 March).

"'Tearing Up Inside' is written about a relationship breakdown and how it feels to go through something so tormenting and heartbreaking," the band says.

"Watching the one you love slip away, fall into the arms of someone else when there is nothing you can do about it; and although it tears you apart, you still love them and want to/ will do everything you can to fix it.

"No matter how hard you try, the relationship meets its inevitable doom."

Although still in their infancy, Two Times Shy debut music video for 'Lonely' has racked up 35k views on YouTube while they've already clicked over 10k total streams on Spotify.

Who is Two Times Shy... We are a Brisbane-based pop-punk band formed in 2021 by Douglas Hudswell and Cameron Nerney alongside Jaden Wales and Adam 'Wes' Snyder who later joined in mid 2022. We then released our debut single in August of 2022.

We sound like... Our sound is influenced by bands such as State Champs, Mayday Parade, Sleeping With Sirens and Between You And Me.

Our first gig... Together as a band was a battle of the bands in Toowoomba.

When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... We settled on the group's name unanimously after we won battle of the bands.

In the studio we... Like to have a lot of fun and enjoy each others company over everything else, not placing deadlines and expectations on songs when we don't have to. We also find that our best creativity as a band comes from spending loads of time together in a studio environment.

If we could tour with anyone... We would love to tour with Between You And Me.

Social media is... A great platform for connecting artists with fans and other musicians/ bands, promoting content, getting to know your audience and also creating a community. Memes are great too.

My favourite app at the moment is... Facebook Messenger – so we can always talk to the lads.

To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... We recorded a poorly made home DIY music video (which will never see the light of day).

Life on the road can be... We look forward to finding out one day.

If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... Water and Darrell Lea dark chocolate covered bullets (for Cameron).

The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... Battle of the bands was probably the most nerve-racking experience so far for us, as we were ill prepared and didn't know what to expect.

What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... David Attenborough, because of his deeply distinctive, soothing voice.

If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? Nashville, because of the incredible history of music there.

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Hayley Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York. We would ask them why their new music sucks. . . jokes, we really look up to them and how they've had such a successful career in the music industry, even while facing such adversity from the public and having internal struggles and resolving them as a band.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Spaghetti bolognese, because it's relatively inexpensive, delicious and a crowd favourite.

When it comes to pets are you a lover or hater of our furry friends? We all love our furry friends.

No matter the expense, send me a case of... Favourites chocolate boxes for band practice.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... When I went yesterday for a cheeky leg sesh - Wes.

What's the one chore you dislike the most? Hanging out clothes.

Do you have any phobias... Deep water (Doug), spiders (Cam), cockroaches (Jaden) and cotton balls (Wes).

Would you ever partake in a reality show? No, they seem like way too much drama.

If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? Anyone who is within range, with a good jump scare.

Best local takeaway joint for a midnight feed that will leave you with a food coma? Barely anything is open at midnight where we live, so a good old McDonalds feed does the trick.

Which fictional character best describes your personality? Luke Skywalker, because we love 'Star Wars' and he was always compassionate. Throughout the course of his life and story arc he exercised compassion as much as he could even when facing trials and tribulations.

Last show you binge-watched? Cam: 'Friends'. The hilarity between Joey and Chandler kept me glued to the screen. Jade: 'Peaky Blinders'. The main character were very interesting and I felt empathetic towards them.
