Built on three-part harmonies and crafting soundscapes drawn from the tones of folk, pop, country, funk, musical theatre, Trousdale became fast friends while studying at college back in 2014.
After completing their studies and briefly exploring their own creatives paths, the Los Angeles trio of Quinn D'Andrea, Georgia Greene, and Lauren Jones knew they were destined to create music together.
After releasing a number of singles across 2020-2021, Trousdale released two EPs in 2021 ('Look Around' and 'What Happiness Is') that led to a third EP, 'Make It Out Alive' in 2023 that was followed later that year by their debut album 'Out Of My Mind'.
Earlier this year, Trousdale returned with their sophomore album 'Growing Pains', and just last month released the bonus track from the 'Growing Pains' vinyl, 'The Ick'.
"'The Ick' is, without question, the most important song of our generation," Trousdale says. "Written with Dan Fernandez in Nashville, it's a groundbreaking piece that captures the exact moment when infatuation turns to revulsion.
"You know the feeling: one second they're charming, the next they're wearing flip-flops or talking in a baby voice, and suddenly you're rethinking every life choice that led you here.
"The ick isn't just a feeling – it's a deep, existential betrayal. It's realising they're not the flawless masterpiece you invented in your head, but rather a person who says 'boys will be boys' unironically. There's no recovering from it, so we figured we might as well write a song about it. Call it a public service."
Currently supporting Lake Street Drive on their American tour, and set to make their Grand Ole Opry debut in Nashville's historic venue next week, next month Trousdale will venture to Australia for the very first time for a trio of shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney (scroll down for the specific dates).
Who is Trousdale... We're Georgia Greene, Lauren Jones, and Quinn D'Andrea. We all met in 2014 in college, while studying popular music performance. We were fast friends, and started making music together within the first few months of knowing each other.
We continued building the band through our four years of school, and after a year of working on our own solo work post-graduating, we joined back together and haven't looked back.
We sound like... A whole blend of different musical upbringings – folk, pop, country, funk, musical theatre – all rooted in three-part harmony and lyrical storytelling.
Our first gig was... In a basement-turned-venue on our school campus. We were squeezed on a small side 'stage' to play a few songs in-between the main acts on the real stage. Such a sweet time in our lives where we were just fearlessly creating and putting ourselves out there for any gig that came our way.
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... It wasn't too long after we started writing and singing together – we were considering a few options at the time, but nothing was totally fitting or feeling right.
We were sitting outside on the grass on our college campus and right above our heads was the street sign for the main road that cut across campus: Trousdale Parkway. You could say we really took that as a sign.
In the studio we usually... Are snacking, cry-laughing, coming up with grand ideas for the final product of the song before we've recorded anything yet, probably adding ten more harmonies to the chorus than are technically needed, each throwing out a million different ideas and trying to find a way to make them all work cohesively, and probably (definitely) cooking up something epic.
If we could tour with anyone... Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves. . . the list does go on forever, but we'll stop there for now.
Social media is... A dangerous thing when we're sucked into doom scrolling, but a source of endless opportunity as artists to find other creative people and to be found ourselves by strangers around the world.
My favourite app at the moment is... Quinn: My logic puzzle app. It scratches my brain in just the right way any time we're on a long drive or flight, or sitting around waiting to soundcheck. A nice way to pass the time while still using my mind in a somewhat useful manner.
Lauren: YouTube, because I watch cute, cozy, ambience videos with the sound of rain and a roaring fireplace (and/ or a babbling brook). Georgia: Master Tour. It's my daily life schedule for most of the year. It tells me where I need to be, when I need to be there, and honestly who I need to be.
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... We landed in a tiny town in the English countryside after one hour of sleep the night before, and Quinn accidentally set off the emergency alarm in the bathroom because she thought it was a rope you pull to flush the toilet.
Life on the road can be... Incredibly fulfilling, exciting, exhausting, nerve-racking, empowering; so many things I couldn't possibly narrow it down to a singular feeling!
If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... Georgia: Some pretzels; Lauren: KIND bars; Quinn: Tequila ;)
The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... We were travelling through London touring just the three of us a few years ago and found ourselves getting followed and harassed by a man while walking down a quiet street at night.
Unfortunately was not the first or last time this happened to any of us, but that was definitely a pretty scary trio touring moment. Luckily we found the owner of a pub who took us in and locked up the whole joint to protect us (and THAT is what we call women supporting women!!).
What celebrity/famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band (why?)... Elton John has been such an amazing mentor and advocate for up and coming artists, and I would be so honoured if he were to ever hear our music and love it enough to support us and help us share it with the world.
If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? Quinn: If I could muster up the courage to live amongst the arachnids I do think Sydney would be such a fun city to live in. I absolutely love the sunshine and the beach, but also love being surrounded by a lively city.
Lauren: I think I would say Cornwall or somewhere on the coast of England; when we toured there a few years ago it was SO beautiful. Georgia: I would move to Amsterdam. I love the public transportation and the biking, and the city is BEAUTIFUL, and the people are STYLISH!
Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Quinn: Dick Van Dyke so I could request he sings me 'Hushabye Mountain' from 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' while I sob, Bernie Sanders so we can talk about the state of the world and also because I know him and Dick are buddies so I'm just tryin' to bring some friends together.
Then Fiona Apple and listen I don't know how this addition would sit socially with the whole gang, but she has been one of my biggest inspirations as a songwriter. I think she's the missing piece for a dinner party that would leave us all emotional, rightfully angry about climate change and the 1 per cent, and ready to start up some good trouble fighting the patriarchy.
Georgia: Amelia Dimoldenberg because she is hilarious and a badass businesswoman/creative genius and I'd love to pick her brain. Andrew Garfield because I just absolutely adore him and I'd want to give him and Amelia a chance to finally fall in love. Barbara Streisand because I'd want to hear all about her life story and how she views the world.
Lauren: Esther Perel because she would bring insight, joy and interesting questions to the table. Victor Wooten because he understands music from a philosophical perspective and is a walking legend of incredible advice with great vibes. Yuval Noah Harari because I'm intrigued by his book 'Sapiens' and would love to hear a conversation between him, Victor and Esther.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Quinn: Rigatoni with a spicy pink vodka sauce (it's the only thing I know how to cook but it slaps). Lauren: Panang Curry! Georgia: Tomato basil pasta with a MEAN garlic bread.
When it comes to pets are you a lover or hater of our furry friends? LOVERS!
No matter the expense, send me a case of... Quinn: Perfume if this isn't a question about something edible. Georgia: That tequila with the bell on the top that's gorgeous and expensive. Lauren: Kittens; is that allowed (poke holes in the box)?
The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... Quinn: The inside of a what? Lauren: This morning. Georgia: Couple years?!
What's the one chore you dislike the most? Quinn: Taking out the trash (coincidentally is the lyric I sing in our song 'Growing Pains', but I do sing that line in my head every time I take out the trash and it makes it just a little easier (just a LITTLE). Georgia: I hate cleaning the shower – the angles are so hard to get! Lauren: Vacuuming. EASILY.
Do you have any phobias... Quinn: Not technically, but I am irrationally still very afraid of a character called the Child Catcher from the 1968 smash hit feature film 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' (anyone reading this is lucky I've only mentioned 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' twice here; I'm holding back).
Lauren: I'm prone to claustrophobia – get me in an airplane jet bridge with no windows and I'm outta there. I also used to have a recurring dream as a kid where I was going down a tube slide that would slowly get smaller and smaller until it closed completely, at which point I would try to crawl back up the slide, only to realise that THAT end had closed too.
Georgia: Something poking my eye. I saw the trailer for 'Final Destination' where someone fell over and something sharp went into their eyeball and I was forever scarred. We can call that ocustabiphobia. (It's actually called ommetaphobia after a quick Google search).
Would you ever partake in a reality show? If we could compete as a trio, we would either epically win or lose after the first episode of 'The Amazing Race', but it would be entertaining nonetheless.
If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? Quinn: I would love to prank Lauren or Georgia, but I feel like they know me so well and I'm a very bashful liar. BUT we do have such incredible opportunities for pranks with a full audience and a stage every night on tour. I think that would be the perfect setting for a (lighthearted and fun) prank.
Georgia: I'm not a huge pranker but if I were, I'd prank Quinn maybe by going into her bathroom and slightly moving everything around and see if she'd notice. Lauren: I would prank Georgia or Quinn with a good old fashioned and well timed whoopie cushion.
Best local takeaway joint for a midnight feed that will leave you with a food coma? In-n-out!
Which fictional character best describes the band’s personality? Powerpuff Girls is the easy choice here – the colours, the sisterhood, the superhuman gifts (obviously); but really we do feel connected to that energy – of three different personalities and skills and perspectives coming together to create something we'd never be able to recreate on our own. And fighting the evil of the patriarchy would be our 'not all heroes wear capes' scenario for sure.
Last show you binge-watched? Quinn: 'Paradise'. Lauren: 'Wednesday' S2. Georgia: 'The Good Wife'.
