Last week, charming New Zealand indie pop-rock group There's A Tuesday released 'Amsterdam' – the lead single from their debut EP 'Dance With Me Before We Cry' that's scheduled to drop next month.
Following previous 2020 releases, 'Dandelions' and 'Sound Of The Stars', 'Amsterdam' offers a breezy dose of upbeat, jangly post-punk that'll leave your foot tapping uncontrollably (like when you scratch a dog's rear hind in just the 'right' place!)."The song is about people in your life that you can't help but love," singer Nat Hutton says. "It's okay to ask them to leave and come around another time soon."
Who is There's A Tuesday... An indie dream-pop band made up of Nat Hutton (guitar and vocals), Minnie Robberds (guitar and vocals), Gus Murray (drums) and Joel Becker (bass).
Our first gig was... At a corporate function for Spark mobile company. It was fun, kind of weird though.
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... Min's friend Indi pointed out the fact there indeed is a Tuesday between a Monday and between a Wednesday. We liked it.
For a while we went by 'There's A Tuesday Between A Monday And Between A Wednesday' but that is long isn't it. So we shortened it to There’s A Tuesday.
In the studio we... Do guitar first and eat loads of sushi.
If we could tour with anyone... It would have to be Benee; we love Stella's stuff.
Social media is... A good way to connect with lovely humans. It's fun to update friends with what we're up to.
My favourite app at the moment is... Been thoroughly enjoying and possibly spending too much time on Doodle Jump recently.
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... Nat once played the harmonica at a gig and it was in the completely wrong key. Haha eek.
Life on the road can be... Awfully fun but occasionally quite tiring. We all get along super well, so have many more laughs than we have hiccups.
If you'll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... Oreos, gin and tonic, lemons, blankets and beanbags.
The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... Early flights are pretty scary especially post gig. None of us are morning people.
What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band? Mac DeMarco and Julia Jacklin. We love them both as humans and musicians, so it'd be an honour for them to vouch for us.
If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose? Melbourne would be fun. Or London.
Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party? David Bowie, Prince and Jacinda Ardern.
No matter the expense, send me a case of... Scrumpy. A whole case.
The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... Probably at high school.
What's the one chore you dislike the most? We are pretty upset on dishes and dusting.
Do you have any phobias? Minnie really dislikes bananas, passionately. "It's the texture," she says.
Would you ever partake in a reality show? Yes, most definitely. It seems fun. Perhaps 'Survivor'.
If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? Probably our manager Walt. Maybe pretend to get a new manager, tehe!
