An indie metalcore band who've been regulars of Adelaide's alternative scene since their debut in 2015, Throwaway are Zak Kerrison, Adrian Emili and Bailey O'Brien.
For fans of Plini, I Built The Sky, Hands Like Houses, and Polaris, Throwaway create complex time signatures and unusual song structures to create a push and pull effect to their modern sound.Seven years removed from their debut EP 'Thrown Off Track' – which was followed by 2018 album 'Out Of Reach' – Throwaway recently took the covers off their sophomore EP 'Weight'.
"As the title suggests, this EP revolves around the theme of 'weight', with each of the songs exploring a different feeling associated with weight," the band says, discussing the six-track EP.
"'Crisis' is about the state of the world and how quickly everything can come undone due to one, small decision; the weight of the world can really be in one person's hands.
"Whereas 'Bad Vibes' is more about social standards and the weight of other people's opinions. 'Pressure' steps into the feeling of standards being set that feel unachievable, but not giving in to the voices telling you to give up.
"'Gone Too Soon' is all about the impact the loss of a loved one has on a person, a very heavy feeling that everyone has experienced at some point in their life.
"Throughout the entire listening experience 'Weight' has to offer, there's at least one song that everyone can relate to."
Who is... We are Throwaway, a trio of high school sweethearts from Adelaide, turned metalcore.
We sound like... The best music you've probably ever heard! Our music is for fans of A Day To Remember, Hands Like Houses, Bring Me The Horizon, The Amity Affliction.
Our first gig was... At a pub that no longer exists in Adelaide called the Colonel Light Hotel. It was an interesting one to say the least.
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... Honestly, we're a bit foggy on the origin of the name. I think it was inspired by the song 'Throw Away' by Blue Stahli, but it could have also just been a 'throwaway name' to be replaced by something else down the track.
In the studio we usually... Our studio is also our hangout spot, so we do everything from play video games to drink. It's a great place to be.
If we could tour with anyone... Periphery would be a dream, Polaris as well. Honestly we'd take a tour with almost anyone at this point.
Social media is... An addiction.
Our favourite app at the moment is... Nothing beats a good Discord hang with the squad.
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... A couple of us have had the misfortune of choking on our luscious locks mid set. Quite the dilemma.
Life on the road can be... We haven't been road tripping together yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... We've had our fair share of technical difficulties during our shows, never fails to get the heart racing.

If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? Somewhere in Japan would probably be pretty cool.
Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... The drummer from Nirvana, the guitarist/ singer of Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl, just to see if they know that they look alike.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Mi Goreng.
When it comes to pets are you a lover or hater of our furry friends? Two cat lovers and a dog lover.

Which fictional character best describes your personality? Homer Simpson comes to mind, but not sure why.
Last show you binge-watched? 'Cyberpunk Edgerunners' had me so hooked I watched all ten episodes in one sitting.
