Introducing Melbourne Singer-Songwriter Tim Goddard

Tim Goddard is a Melbourne-based pop singer-songwriter.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Melbourne-based pop-rock singer-songwriter, Tim Goddard's newest single is 'Messed Up Like Me' – a pop banger with electronic, hip hop production that details Tim's own anxieties fitting in with society.

His third release overall, following earlier 2021 singles 'Psycho' and 'Higher Now', Tim worked with a team of writers – Shelley Sarah Segal, Wayne Andrew Wilkins, and American songwriter and producer Kevin Anyaeji (Frank Ocean, Tori Kelly, Nicki Minaj) – to create 'Messed Up Like Me'.

"Thank you to the lyric writers: Wayne, Shelly and Kevin. They took my initial ideas and turned them into this song," Tim says.

Who is Tim Goddard... I am a Melbourne-based singer, songwriter and music producer. I started composing music through a desire to understand life, priding myself on making music with a personal touch.

By wanting to express my emotions through song, I often draw on my struggles with anxiety. I have worked with some amazing producers in the industry and have had the opportunity to record in world-class facilities such as The Base Recording Studios in Melbourne, used by numerous award-winning artists.

My last single 'Psycho' got over 100 streams within the first day on Spotify alone and has been added to multiple Spotify playlists. The song is about my battle with anxiety that can make me feel 'psycho'.

I am excited to announce my third single 'Messed Up Like Me' – a huge tune that resonates heavily with out modern afflictions.

I sound like... I have a lot of different influences in my music as I love to create songs in a variety of genres. Some of my main influences have to be The Weeknd, Twenty One Pilots, Post Malone and Travis Scott. The more music I make, the better I am at crafting the songs I hear in my head.

My first gig is... Keep an eye out for me as I want to do a few gigs around the Fitzroy, north inner city area of Melbourne. I am also excited to share my music live soon, with a few shows on social media. I'll see you there.

In the studio I usually... Chat a little and then into a few vocal warmups. I normally warmup in the car on the way to the studio, so I can jump into the booth feeling nice and warm. Normally record sections of the song at a time and maybe have one or two takes the whole way through.

If I could tour with anyone... I would love to be on tour with Post Malone, Justin Bieber, Travis Scott or The Weeknd. They are such amazing artists. Would be an incredible experience to perform in-front of that many people.

Social media is... A double edged sword. An amazing way to get yourself in front of people but has its negatives for a lot of young people.

My favourite app at the moment is... The BeatStars app. I can listen to different songs and write to them whenever I feel like it. A huge library of beats producers have made to purchase. I love to browse whenever I'm writing.

To date, my most embarrassing moment was the time... When I went to buy some food from a store, they made it all and I realised I had no money on my card when I tried to pay. I haven't been in the store since.

Life on the road can be... Fun, depending on where you're heading.

If you'll have me on your bill, all I ask is that our rider contains... A damn good time.

The most scary scenario I've found myself in, was... I broke my leg while skiing off a cliff; I was in some very steep terrain and was very hard to get me out. Had the helicopter and all.

What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be spokesperson of the band... There are a few artists with similar messages that I connect with. I feel like I need to express my own message out to the world too.

If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? I would choose New York. I love snow in winter, and there is always something happening. I have never been there, but I've always wanted to go and live for a while.

Three people you'd like to invite around for a dinner party... Dwayne Johnson, Steve-O and Kevin Hart. Would be a funny dinner.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? A nice penne dish. I pretty much cook it every night. It's in the routine and it tastes damn good every time.

When it comes to pets are you a lover or hater of our furry friends? I've been around dogs my whole life. I couldn't imagine living without them. My favourite breed is the German Shepherd.

No matter the expense, send me a case of... A good time.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... Probably yesterday.

What's the one chore you dislike the most? I do like everything neat and tidy, but if I chose one job it would be vacuum cleaning, do not enjoy it. Especially if the vacuum is connected with a cable.

Do you have any phobias? Anything with eight legs is a big no for me.

Would you ever partake in a reality show? 'Too Hot To Handle' or something similar; talk absolute sh.t and have a good time.

If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? Would get revenge on anyone that pranks me first. How would I do it? They would find out soon enough.

Best local takeaway joint for a 2am feed that will leave you with a food coma? Maccas breakfast menu. I always ask for hash browns and pancakes. They always take ages to make them because not many people are getting pancakes at that time.

Which fictional character best describes your personality? Godzilla.

Last show you binge-watched (and what kept you glued to the screen)? I have 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' and 'Lucifer' seasons on repeat while eating. Never gets boring and I can shut my brain down for a little at the end of the day.
