Recently releasing their newest single, 'Hang In There (It Gets Worse)', Melbourne metalcore band Druid continue their march to gain new followers.
Fronted by Chris Mercuri and Jordan Williams, who each showcase their individual styles, Druid released their debut EP 'Semblance' in final months of 2019 and hit the road running with shows featuring acts such as The Motion Below, Earthbound, Suspryia and BLKLST.Curtailed by the pandemic, the band have continued to foster their nu metalcore tones, with a string of singles released that culminated in their 2021 album 'The Beauty In The Decay'.
Druid has since shared the stage with Alpha Wolf, Void Of Vision, Earthcaller, Lune, Diamond Construct, and The Beautiful Monument plus many more.
We sound like... Although we perform heavy music, we may draw inspiration from many places, whether that be from metalcore, hip hop, hardcore or even pop. Because of our diverse backgrounds, it allows us to always create something new but if we were going to label our sound it would be metalcore/ nu metalcore.
Our first gig was... The Workers Club back in 2019 with BLKLST.
When did you settle on the group's name, and was it a unanimous decision... It was unanimous, because it was the only name that we could all agree on.
In the studio we usually... Will be found repeating the same phrase over and over, and mouthing obscenities to myself in frustration.
If we could tour with anyone... City Morgue with a genre crossover tour would be CRAZY. But otherwise touring with Bring Me The Horizon or a band like Parkway Drive would be a lifetime tour goal.
Social media is... The devil – some boomer.
My favourite app at the moment is... Funimation, because anime, Asta.
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... Before we were even playing shows, I met Derek from State Champs and I was so nervous I kept shaking and he understood nothing I said to him.
Life on the road can be... Well we don't currently know but we're looking at going on tour this year. Earth Caller, Deficit, Headwreck and us? QLD vs VIC. That would be dope!

The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... Playing at an Alpha Wolf show.

If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose and why? Tokyo because of anime and Crystal Lake.
