Melbourne-based chanteuse Meg Mac has been penetrating airwaves around the country with her style of dark, stomping soul-pop with singles 'Every Lie' and, her current belter, 'Roll Up Your Sleeves'.
The singer's songwriting abilities will be on display once more with the release of her first body of work, MEGMAC, the debut EP being released on Friday 12th September.
To coincide, Meg Mac will tour nationally starting this Friday in Sydney.
Who is... My name is Meg Mac and I sing. I sing out all my thoughts in a dark room by myself with a piano and after a while they turn into songs.
I sound like... Dark pop and soul.
My first gig was... At one of those secret gigs, it was in somebody’s lounge room in a stranger’s house.
When did you settle on your stage name... Meg Mac was my first ever Hotmail account back in 2001, so it has been brewing since then. It is just the short version of my name, Megan McInerney.
In the studio I usually... Drink too much water and forget to eat.
If I could tour with anyone... Bon Iver.
Social media is... Fun.
My favourite app at the moment is... My iPhone 4 has zero space for apps for leisure :(
To date, my most embarrassing moment was the time... Once I won an award and on a big projection my name was misspelled, MEAN MCINERNEY, as I got up on stage.
Life on the road can be... I am still trying to wrap my head around how getting to one place can be the only thing you have achieved in a day, yet you are exhausted.
If you'll have me on your bill, all I ask is that our rider contains... I have never requested a rider, but I always get excited by fancy bottles of mineral water. I don’t really drink when I am singing; boring Meg.
The most scary scenario I've found myself in, was... In my nightmares I get so scared.
What celebrity/ famous person would you love to be your spokesperson... I think if Frank Ocean was to be a spokesperson I would believe in myself a lot more.
