Townsville-based band, King, are headed south for a Brisbane date next week. Fronted by Angus Milne, let's meet the five-piece.
Who is King... We formed just over a year ago and we are very much from all different walks of life. You could tell that just by looking at us.
We sound like... No one and everyone... We cover quite a few different styles and genres from hip hop, country, reggae and rock.
Our first gig was... at Con's (our drummer’s) no clothes birthday party... we sounded terrible but looked amazing.
When did you settle on the group’s name, and was it a unanimous decision... The title King came from Angus' (lead singer) childhood nick name given to him by his family because everyone did everything for him growing up. Strangely enough he now does just about everything for this band.
In the studio we are.. Like little kids in a candy store. We're very new to the recording process and all that expensive equipment is like porn to someone like Jason (lead guitar).
If we could tour with anyone... It would have to be a festival tour with a wide spectrum of artists seeing as though we are all from very different musical backgrounds.
Social media is... Part of life I guess; evolve or dissolve. Why not take advantage of free advertising?
To date, our most embarrassing moment was the time... I was walking though a shopping centre (in a rush) and was confronted by someone who I thought was trying to sell me make-up or foot cream. I very nicely told him to go away and I was busy only to hear him yell out "I just wanted to say King are awesome man!" What a prick I was... I went back and apologised to our only fan.
If you’ll have us on your bill, all we ask is that our rider contains... A single plum floating in perfume served in a man’s hat.
The most scary scenario we've found ourselves in, was... when Angus told us he was pregnant.
What celebrity would you love to be spokesperson of the band... Nick 'The Honey Badger' Cummins... Look it up.
King play alongside Paua, Ambidecks, Mick Lindsay Band and Caitlyn Shadbolt at the New Globe Theatre Saturday April 19.
