Raised in Woorabinda in Queensland and currently living in Naarm, indigenous R&B artist Jada Weazel has created more than a ripple in the indie scene pond this year.
2023 has been massive for Jada. . . just some of her milestones notched include releasing her debut single ('Skin') and EP ('No Peace'), performing her very first headline show, showcasing at BIGSOUND and SXSW Sydney, and appearing on her first billboard, as well as being nominated at ARIA Awards (Best Soul / R&B Release) and Music Victoria Awards (Archie Roach Foundation Award).Who is Jada Weazel... I am an R&B artist from Woorabinda, QLD, and I make songs about my life experiences.
My first gig was... My first real gig was probably when I was 13 or 14 performing at the Woorabinda Festival that was ran by Woorabinda Youth – aka me and my friends.
When did you settle on your artistic name, and was it a unanimous decision... I didn't think about an artist name at all, just wanted my real name.
In the studio I usually... Drink lots of tea.
If I could tour with anyone... It would be Beyonce.
Social media is... Fun and sometimes boring!
My favourite app at the moment is... TikTok. I learn so much on TikTok.
To date, my most embarrassing moment was the time... OMG, too many to choose from!
Life on the road can be... Exciting, I haven't travelled much so I'm always experiencing things for the first time, which is fun!
